The Corps was founded in 1998 and accepts new members from both the university and community who share an interest in furthering this ancient art. We meet on Tuesdays on the Mercer University campus. Beginner lessons are at 5:30pm, and band members practice from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
You are encouraged to contact us in advance if it is your first time, as we do occasionally deviate from the normal schedule.
There is street parking on Adams St and around Tattnall Square Park (including Coleman Ave).
Beginners meet from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
Learning the bagpipe will require an initial outlay of approximately $75-100 for a practice chanter and book which are yours to keep.
Learning to drum requires an initial outlay of about $60 for a drum pad and drumsticks which are yours to keep.
Lessons are free of charge. We expect students to arrive on time with their practice gear, book and a positive attitude! We encourage students to attend as many lessons as possible and commit themselves to regular practice. All new students are welcome to attend parades and competitions as spectators and
at an appropriate time will be invited to participate.
