Mercer University Pipes & Drums

The Corps was founded in 1998 and  accepts new members from both the university and community who share an interest in furthering this ancient art. We meet on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 on the Mercer University campus.

About Us

Information for Beginners

Beginners meet from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

Learning the bagpipe will require an initial outlay of approximately $75-100 for a practice chanter and book which are yours to keep.

Learning to drum requires an initial outlay of under $50 for a drum pad and drumsticks which are yours to keep.  Interested drum students can email Michael Moore at  moore_mk@mercer.edu.

Lessons are free of charge.  We expect students to arrive on time with their practice gear, book and a positive attitude! We encourage students to attend as many lessons as possible and commit themselves to regular practice. All new students are welcome to attend parades and competitions as spectators and at an appropriate time will be invited to participate.
